window drapes in ashevilleWhen it comes to home decor, there are a million and one choices out there, and everyone has their own personal style. Today, your blind company in Asheville would like to go over a few different blind styles and options so you have some ideas when decorating your home. Traditionally, most windows have three curtains; one to filter light (Sash Curtain) one to have so you can open and close to block out light (Draw Curtain) and another to have as decoration (The Drapery). If you had a more formal room that needed window treatment, you would have all these curtains plus a piece of cloth or other material to hide the hardware (the Valace).

Curtain Lengths

Curtains come in all types of styles, patterns and lengths. The length depends on the mood you want to present to your guests. Longer lengths are more formal where as shorter curtains are more casual and relaxed. Here are some moods you may be thinking about and the lengths that are suggested.

  • Romantic – For this mood, let your curtains fall low and puddle on the floor.
  • Dignified – Most Dens give off that feeling of dignity, and to get that you may want to include some type of draw drape.
  • Formal – Formal moods are presented when the curtains just barely touch the floor.
  • Kitchens – Short curtains to the bottom of the sill (Aprons) are great. Don’t ever hang long curtains of any kind near a stove.

Window Treatment Options

As many variations as there are of Window treatment on the Outer Banks don’t be scared to try something new. Just because people have been following the same ways for years doesn’t mean they are the only options. Here are a few things to think about, and maybe add some custom flare to!

  • Hang top curtains with short over drapes (Swags).
  • Hang a curtain beneath a draw drape.
  • Hang simple lace or silk curtains.
  • Use a Valace.
  • Top a blind with swags.

These are just a few variations of window treatments and we are sure you can think of more. If you have any questions, remember that Asheville Window Blinds has everything you need for great blinds and curtains.
